Hi Friends,
I trust you were inspired by the stories I shared for Women's History Month! Thank you from my heart for your feedback!! It always makes my day. It's spring now, not officially, but you can start to see the signs of spring around you. And don't you associate spring with spring cleaning? What the heck does that have to do with this life coaching blog? A lot actually. Let me explain.
Spring Clean Your Brain: Like That Overstuffed Closet (or That Drawer You Pretend Doesn’t Exist)
You know that closet.
The one you open real quick, grab what you need, and slam shut before the contents tumble out like a landslide of sweaters, stray flip-flops, and the ghost of Christmas decorations past.
Or maybe it’s the bathroom drawer—you know, the one full of mystery items, tangled hair ties, dried-up mascara, and a rogue earring that lost its mate in 2009.
We avoid it because it looks like a lot. But here's the thing: once we finally dig in, it usually takes way less time than we expected. And the relief after? Instant. Light. Free.
Now, here’s the kicker: your brain is kind of like that too.
In midlife, our mental and emotional drawers start to feel just as messy. Old beliefs we no longer need. Guilt from years of being everything for everyone. Worry about the future. Thoughts that keep circling like dust bunnies we never signed up for.
We think it’s too much to deal with, so we don’t. But what if—just like that drawer or closet—it doesn’t actually take as long or feel as hard as you’re imagining?
What if this is the perfect time to give your inner world the same refresh you’re giving your outer one?
Why not go for the 2-for-1 spring cleaning sale—your closet and your brain?
Here’s how you start:
Pick one shelf (or one thought): Don’t try to clean the whole house or solve your whole life. Pick one area that feels heavy. Maybe it's that belief that it's "too late" for you. Maybe it’s the habit of saying yes when you want to say no. Just one.
Dump it out: Take a look. Where did that belief come from? Is it serving you? Be gentle but honest. If it’s junk, toss it.
Keep what’s useful: You’ve learned a lot over the years. Keep the wisdom, the strength, the stories that show how far you’ve come. These are the things that belong in your new season.
Make space for new: Once you've cleared out, notice how much space you suddenly have—for new dreams, ideas, or simply some quiet peace.
This week's affirmation:
"I release what no longer serves me, and I make space for the woman I’m becoming."
Isabelle
