how are you?
Hope you are well. Maybe you even get to see some beautiful fall foliage where you are. Down here in Florida, we don't really get that. As your children are back in school ( or school at home ), and you are back into your routines, I want to offer you a thought that was really helpful to me. I did this free 5 day challenge by a parenting coach and the one thing that stuck with me the most was this:
Be intentional about how you want to spend your time with your children!
I don't mean, make a plan as to where you are going and what you will be doing. Like "we'll go apple picking ". Those activities are fun for sure, but this is my question :
How do you want to show up while you are with your children?
Sometimes we are frazzled, anxious, stressed, pushy, worried, judgy.....while we are having best intentions to enjoy the apple picking!!
I want you to choose 3 adjectives to describe how you want to be when you spend time with your children. I chose mine to be
intentional,
joyful and
calm.
Put together it looks like this:
I want my time spent with my children to be intentional, joyful and calm.
Why? Because it wasn't always like that. And I found that when I decide ahead of time, chances are much higher that I will show up like this.
What adjectives speak to you? present--thankful--gentle--exciting--peaceful--relaxing--exciting--kind--silly--accepting--adventurous--caring--cheerful--creative--devoted--easy going--funny--genuine--grace filled--harmonious--honest--lighthearted--lively--messy--open--personal--playful--positive--private--quiet--reflective--rewarding--safe--spirited--supportive--treasured--truthful--accepting--warm...
