Tuesday Thoughts And New Paths

Hi Friends,
I trust you were inspired last week to do some spring cleaning in your thoughts.Spring is about new things, and I really, really want to encourage you to try the new thing.
New Paths Are Created by Walking
Before my son could drive, before he could even ride a bike, he had to learn his multiplication tables. I remember the repetition, the frustration, the flashcards at the dinner table. And then one day — he just knew them. Not because it suddenly got easier, but because he stuck with it. Because practice works.
My youngest son is getting his driver’s license. It’s one of those milestones that hits differently when you’ve been a mother for decades. I remember holding his chubby toddler hand as he wobbled down the sidewalk, and now I’m watching him pull out of the driveway, practicing the same turn again and again until it feels natural.
It got me thinking about how we all learn.
Practice makes light work.
Not “perfect” — just lighter. More natural. Less overwhelming.
I’ve watched him go from nervous and jerky behind the wheel to calm and confident, and it reminded me how everything we do for the first time feels awkward. Reading. Riding a bike. Using a smartphone. Even navigating a divorce, starting a business, or figuring out who we are again in midlife.
None of it came easy the first time.
But when we keep showing up — trying, failing, trying again — it becomes less heavy. We find our rhythm. We stop gripping the wheel so tightly.
Sometimes we think transformation requires a massive leap. But most often, it’s small steps. Daily moments. Saying “yes” to ourselves over and over.
New paths aren’t discovered. They’re created — by walking.
Read that again 🫶. And yes, sometimes we stall. Sometimes we forget how far we’ve come. But look back: every hard thing you’ve ever faced, you’ve made it through. Every new thing you’ve learned, you’ve learned because you kept going.
If you’re standing at the edge of something new — whether it’s a business, a dream, a relationship, or rediscovering your own voice — take the first step. Then another.
You don’t have to know the whole map. Just trust the road will become clearer as you move.
And who knows — walking this new path might even be fun. Yes, even in midlife. There’s joy in exploring. There’s freedom in trying something new just because it calls to you. There’s laughter in the messiness, in the detours, in learning to dance in shoes that don’t quite fit yet. Sometimes the best version of us is the one who dares to do something she’s never done before.
And I get it — doubt creeps in.
"Am I too old to start over?""What if I fail again?""Will anyone even care what I have to say or offer?""Do I have enough energy to do this one more time?"
These thoughts aren’t weakness — they’re proof that you’re human and brave enough to consider change.
Just like my son, learning to drive, turn after turn. You’re allowed to be a beginner. You’re allowed to be wobbly. You’re allowed to need practice.
Eventually, it won’t feel so heavy. Eventually, you’ll realize: you’re doing it.
This weeks's Affirmation:
I trust myself to take the next step, even when the whole path isn’t clear. Every day I grow stronger, braver, and more aligned with whoI truly am.
